Villa with pool in TuscanyVilla San Francesco is a private villa with pool in Tuscany which dates back to the early 1800’s, it was later partially rebuilt in the early 1900’s by Evangeline Whipple, a rich American widow. The Villa enjoys a privileged and panoramic position, it forms part of the small group of houses and villa’s called “Bagno alla Villa”, situated in an elevated position above the small spa town of Bagni di Lucca.   
Bagni di Lucca lies at the feet of the Villa just a five minute walk away. The spa facilities are only 1km away from our villa and can easily be reached on foot via a beautiful walk through Tuscan greenery.
Immersed in a typically Tuscan landscape, sleeps up to 10 people and it is an ideal destination for those looking for a relaxing holiday amongst serene surroundings with culture and other diversions close to hand.


It is a luxury villa with pool, of around 300 m2 set out over three floors.
Villa_swimmingpoolOn the ground floor there is a large reception area, a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen while on the first and second floor there are two twin rooms and two doubles, all with their own bathrooms.
Furthermore on the first floor there is a second reception area used as a media room with a large High definition television; whilst on the second floor there are two small rooms housing a sauna and a large and comfortable and Jacuzzi.  The decoration of the villa like that of other Tuscan Villa’s of the same era is very elegant,  in keeping with its 19th century origins, and is embellished with carefully chosen details and lively fabrics and with a warm lighting scheme which makes the villa even more welcoming.  The villa remains cool even in the hottest summer months and has an efficient heating system for the winter months.
Villa San Francesco also has a wonderful private garden with pool (5x10mt); both the Villa and the Garden have been restored during 2007 and 2008.


the ancient Devil's bridge near Bagni di Lucca e Villa San FrancescoWell known since the middle ages by the name of the Corsena Baths, the spa town of Bagni di Lucca was populated already as early as the 1500’s by illustrious characters.  It was however during and after the reign of Elisa Bonaparte Baciocchi, the sister of Napoleon, that this resort reached its full splendour, and became one of the most important and famous spa towns of the whole of Europe. The  surrounding hills and mountains offer infinite possibilities for those seeking a holiday in close contact with nature; excursions, trekking, sport, walks, pony trekking, pot holing, and caving with the marvellous Grotta del Vento cave just a few minutes away by car.

The Versilian coast is under an hour away by car from our Villa in Bagni di Lucca,  the area is well known for its sandy beaches and intense and exclusive nightlife.
The river Lima offers suggestive views and little known coves where on the hottest days one can cool off in its cool mountain waters and sunbathe or picnic. For the more adventurous in the spring and the autumn it is also possible to go rafting here.
You may, however,  find that once you arrive and experience peace and beauty of this Tuscan villa with pool you may be happy to recline in the shade of a tree with a good book in the company of friends, enjoying a cocktail watching the sun set, and tuscan food under the stars and feel no urge to seek out anything more from your holiday.


Bagni di Lucca Spa- Stone MassageThe spa at Bagni di Lucca, is 1 km away from our villa, there are two facilities: Terme Jean Varraud and Casa Bocella, specialized in the treatment of many medical conditions. There are 19 springs of bicarbonate-sulphate-calcium waters, known for their curative properties since the XIII century, which surface at temperatures of between 39 and 54°C.  The spas also boast two unique naturally steaming caves, the temperature in the caves varies from 40 to 47°C.
Due to the increased demand for treatments to balance mind and body, the wellbeing centre Ouida has recently opened, offering numerous aesthetic treatments and specific programs with relaxing, purifying, and toning treatments.
